Personality is not the only thing an employer looks for in recruiting a shopper. One must be able to be friendly, be open-minded, and a hard worker. Employers review past work and customer service experience, and the length at which one worked in the field. Dealing with people in society is not an easy task, especially when shopping for storage.

Are You Cut Out To Be A Secret Shopper?

Shopping for storage is an entirely different ball game. One must know storage in order to be an undercover shopper in order to adequately grade a persons customer service skills. Self storage is slightly complex because size is an extremely important factor when determining price and location. The shopper must know the sizes of the units, and know what must be offered at storage facilities in order to make an adequate assessment of the employers customer service skills. The shopper also must be able to disguise their voice when calling around the country. At a call center that performs shopping for self storage, it is a well known fact that many of the employers know the voice of the shopper. Depending on where one is in the country one must change their voice to acclimate to the area that they are shopping. And finally, a shopper must be smart so they can grade the employer and give them sufficient feedback on the skills that need to be improved.

When assessing these individuals one might immediately assume that one with a Type A personality would be a perfect match to obtain a secret shopping job. They would be able to get a lot of work done in a short period of time. They enjoy competition, so the thrill of traveling to different locations may appeal to them. In addition, persons with Type A personality enjoy people and frequent interaction with people is essential when taking on a secret shopping job. However, contrary to popular belief people with a Type B personality also make great shoppers. They take their time and analyze a situation that may help them in grading the facility. In another note, most people are a blend of both Type A and B personalities, so that provides a large number of people that would mainly perform well in a secret shopping job based on their personalities alone.

There are two basic types of personality traits: Type A and type B personalities. A Type A personality is basically driven by the achievement of goals, and finds it difficult to stop even after achieving ones goals. He or she is highly competitive and hates to fail. People with Type A personalities generally end up pretty well fit and well educated because of his or her strive to achieve goals. However, an individual with a Type B is the complete opposite. He or she generally lives at a lower stress rate and works steadily and hard. He or she does not stress as much as one with a Type A personality about not achieving goals. A person with a Type B personality does not mind losing and backing down when faced with competition. He or she may be creative and enjoy life as it comes.
